Efter flera strömavbrott fick vi nu kontakt med byn igen. De berättar att det är lugnt i byn idag och har varit så även senaste natten. Så den kaotiska stämningen med kravallpolis och många ryska soldater som var i förrgår är nu borta. Idag syns bara en jeep och ett par soldater från ockupationsmyndigheten. Så det är ingen folkomröstning i Gammalsvenskby idag. Kanske är det Rysslands taktik för ”en folkomröstning i tysthet” skriver byborna. En kvinnorna i byn skrev att nu går hon och plockar potatis i stället.

After several power black outs, we now got in touch with the village again. They say that it is quiet in the village today and has been so even last night. So the chaotic atmosphere with riot police and many Russian soldiers that was the day before yesterday is now gone. Today, only a jeep and a couple of soldiers from the occupation authorities are visible. So there is no referendum in Gammalsvenskby today. Perhaps it is Russia’s tactic for ”a referendum in silence”, they write. One of the women in the village wrote that now she goes and picks potatoes instead.
