Den 9 april var ryska armén på besök i Gammalsvenskby. Byäldsten Mykola tog emot dem på kommunkontoret och informerade om läget i byn. Förhandlingar har enligt honom gått bra. Ryska armén hade sagt att de ska hjälpa Gammalsvenskby.
Byborna har det lite bättre, då det kommer mat från grannbyar. Några i byn lyckats beställa medicin i staden Kryvyj Rih och få en taxichaufför att köra ner ordern, förbi ryska vägspärrar.
Det sägs att borgmästaren i kommunstaden Beryslav har bytts ut och att den ryska flaggan nu hissats där på kommunhuset. Många är oroliga för nya strider i Beryslav, då kriget nu koncentreras söder och österut. Det kommer flyktingar till byn från Beryslav och andra byar i närheten, som har dåligt med mat och som plundrats på värdesaker och elektronisk utrustning.
